Schuursma lives on a peniche
near the Eiffel tower. His latest series of Eiffel tower paintings
will be the centerpiece of his upcoming exhibition at the
Bernheim-Jeune gallery starting June 5.
His wobbly transformation of reality, due perhaps to working
on a river boat pitching in the waves, has inspired paintings
that glow in an orgy of color and light and are in seemingly
constant motion.
Frans Schuursma admires Picasso, Kandisky, Bacon, Turner (his
watercolors), Derain (his fauve period). Like so many great
artists before him, Frans Schuursma doesn't seek, he finds
his subjects. He expresses intimately the atmosphere of the
moment.
 Everything
takes on life and movement under his restless gaze; he paints
reality like accomplishing an exorcism. Frans sees emotion
in all objects, even in a jar or a coffee pot.
The pleasure to paint - trying to always paint the best painting
that will enrich people - allows him to control his technique
regardless of the psychological content of his work. His work,
as expressed by Michel Dauberville, is a joyous hymn to life.

Frans SCHUURSMA vit dans une
péniche sur la Seine, aux pieds de la Tour Eiffel. La prochaine
exposition sera axée sur sa récente série de la Tour Eiffel,
présentée à la Galerie BERNHEIM-JEUNE le 6 juin.
 Franz
travaille et vit sur une péniche qui tangue sur la Seine,
sa vision de la réalité en est imprégnée.
Cette perception particulière a inspiré des peintures étincelantes
dans une débauche de couleurs et de lumière.
SCHUURSMA, comme de grands artistes avant lui, ne cherche
pas, il trouve, il exprime intimement l'instant présent.
Son regard constamment en éveil, il peint la réalité, comme
si il voulait l'exorciser. Il trouve de l'émotion dans chaque
objet, même dans une jarre ou une cafetière.
Son bonheur de peindre apporte le meilleur de lui-même au
public. Contrôlant sa technique, il préserve néanmoins la
charge psychologique de son oeuvre, qui comme l'a exprimé
Michel Dauberville, est un joyeux hymne à la vie.
